The WPIAL football season entered the second half with two historic results. Shaler defeated Woodland Hills for the first time ever as the Titans started conference play 1-0. Additionally, Laurel Highlands topped Thomas Jefferson for the first time in school history. Prior to Friday night, the Mustangs had been 0-28 against the Jaguars, dating back to the 1960s. Following their big win over Thomas Jefferson, which puts Laurel Highlands right in the mix to host a home playoff game, we interviewed Mustangs head coach Rich Kolesar. Last year the Mustangs got off to their best start in school history, adopting the “Not Your Father’s Mustangs” mantra.
