William Gay to NFL: Use my fine money for domestic violence support

William Gay is a longtime supporter of domestic violence prevention, and he hopes the money from his latest NFL fine goes to the cause.

The Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback has requested the NFL direct his $5,787 fine for wearing purple cleats last week in Kansas City -- the color inspired by domestic violence awareness month -- to domestic violence support, his agent, Jerrold Colton, told ESPN. The cleats violated the league's uniform policy.

After Wednesday's practice, Gay said he won't appeal the fine, and he referenced the cameras in front of his locker as a way to bring awareness to domestic violence.
