Over the years, William Gay’s role with the Steelers has changed, but his Ironman status has not.
The versatile defensive back got through another season with perfect attendance on his report card. He has been in the NFL since 2007, when the Steelers selected him in the fifth round, and he has never missed a game.
Gay has played in 176 of a possible 176 games, the longest active streak for any NFL defensive player. Not only has Gay never missed a game due to injury, but he’s never been made inactive.
There was only one time during his 11-year career that Gay thought he might miss a game.
