The decision to not renew offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s contract has coach Mike Tomlin facing a critical decision of whom to hire as his replacement and whether he should promote from within to maintain stability with one of the top offenses in the NFL.
The two leading candidates from within would appear to be quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner and offensive line coach Mike Munchak, neither of whom have been an offensive coordinator in the NFL.
If Tomlin decides to go outside the organization to hire Haley’s replacement, one of the leading candidates could be former Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, who was fired by the Lions after the 2017 season.
