Before he ever found an easy way to pass with Aaron Rodgers in the National Football League, Mike McCarthy spent time at the beginning stages of his coaching career working with EZ Pass.
And before he started building his staff with coaches from Western Pennsylvania, he tried recruiting players from the Pittsburgh area to as faraway places such as Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan., the site of his first coaching gig.
“I give him a lot of credit,” former Woodland Hills coach George Novak was saying the other day. “He came into my office, it was 1988, he was recruiting Ronnie Suvak, my quarterback
from that year [at Steel Valley].
