BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — The cast and creator of Pittsburgh-set NBC hit “This is Us” (returning 9 p.m. Sept. 26) met the press at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Thursday and offered some hints about the show’s second season:
— The season premiere picks up in the present day after a few months have passed and it is the three Pearson kids’ 37th birthday, just as the pilot began on their 36th birthday. One tear-jerker scene, played for TV critics, shows present-day Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and his mom, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), talking about her decision to adopt him with flashbacks to the Pittsburgh hospital where the series began.
