After the Pittsburgh Steelers established a 5-0 lead in the first quarter of their Sunday game against the New York Giants, the teams’ defense proceeded to allow the opposing offense to drive the length of the field to start the second quarter. While the defense did bend on that drive, they didn’t break and they didn’t allow any points thanks to an interception by linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
With 8:33 left in the second quarter, the Giants offense faced a 2nd and 4 play from the Steelers 9-yard-line. Giants quarterback Eli Manning attempted to hit tight end Larry Donnell up the seam with a pass for a score only to have a widening Timmons leap up and intercept it.
