Last year I didn’t expect the Steelers to sign Steve Nelson, Mark Barron, or Donte Moncrief. Unfortunately, only one of those signings turned out to be a hit.
Once again, Omar Khan, Kevin Colbert, and staff burned the midnight oil making some last-second adjustments. With nearly $15M cleared in cuts and another $23M in restructures, the Steelers turned the tide of the salary cap woes.
Starting with a franchise tag of Bud Dupree, the Steelers ramped things up with the signings of Derek Watt, Stefen Wisniewski, and Eric Ebron–addressing key spots with the departure of unrestricted free agents.
