Officially, James Harrison is the Steelers’ single-season sack leader with 16 of them in his 2008, DPOY winning season. But with Pro Football Reference officially unofficially tabulating sack data from 1960-1981, before sacks became officially recognized, there is a new leader in the clubhouse.
Based off their information, the team’s new sack leader is Eugene “Big Daddy” Lipscomb with a whopping 17.5 sacks all the way back in 1961. Not only did Lipscomb set a Steelers’ record, he led the league in sacks that season making him only the third Steeler to ever do so. Kevin Greene led the league with 14 in 1994 and TJ Watt led the league with 15 last season.
