The Steelers didn’t waste time filling their vacancy at punter following Cameron Johnston’s season-ending injury Week 1, signing former Steeler and Bronco Corliss Waitman.
However, what you may not know is that Waitman beat out five other names for the job, with NFL insider Aaron Wilson reporting that the Steelers worked out six punters on Monday: Jack Browning, Trenton Gill, Matt Haack, Austin McNamara, Corliss Waitman, and Porter Wilson.
Haack brought the most experience with 99 career NFL games, but Waitman was the Steelers’ choice.
Wilson also reported that the Steelers worked out two long snappers: Tucker Addington and Rex Sunahara.
