So much for all that work the Steelers put in with their goal-line offense in the offseason. After beginning nearly every practice in organized team activities, minicamp and training camp with a goal-line drill designed to improve a deficient goal-line offense, the Steelers picked up where they left off in the season opener against the New England Patriots with a dismal showing inside the 10.
The Steelers had eight snaps inside the 10 Thursday night and came away with one touchdown. That’s a touchdown conversion rate of 12.5 percent. The Steelers ranked 28th in the NFL in goal-line offense last season with a 27 percent conversion rate.
