The Pittsburgh Steelers’ undrafted free agent class was light, as the team only signed seven names. One of those names came from the FCS ranks, as Pittsburgh signed defensive lineman James Nyamwaya from Merrimack College. Nyamwaya, who didn’t start playing football until high school after moving to the United States from Kenya, had interest from the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys in addition to the Steelers, but said he chose Pittsburgh due to their relationship with defensive line coach Karl Dunbar.
“Right after the draft ended, my agent (Sean P. Stellato) called and said the Jets wanted me,” Nyamwaya said.
