The Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered their first injury in their preseason opener against the Detroit Lions as safety Ross Ventrone has left the game with a hamstring injury.
Ventrone injured himself while covering a first quarter punt and he will reportedly not return to the game.
Depending on the severity of Ventrone’s hamstring injury it might ultimately prevent him from playing next week in the Thursday night preseason game at Heinz Field against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ventrone is battling for a spot on the 53-man roster and he’s know to be a strong special teams player.
