The Pittsburgh Steelers are hard up against the salary cap, and as fans discussed what options the team had when talking about freeing up more cap space, cutting players was definitely talked about.
Of the players who could be cap casualties, Steven Nelson was a player who was brought up, but was usually shot down. Nelson, the Steelers’ prized free agent acquisition in 2019, has been a tremendous player since coming over from the team who drafted him, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cutting Nelson seemed like a long shot, but Nelson not being on the team in 2021 now seems more likely than ever, just not after being cut.
