The Steelers today released veteran place kicker Shaun Suisham, the most accurate kicker in franchise history, with a failed physical designation.
Suisham injured his knee in the Hall of Fame game last August and missed the entire season after undergoing reconstructive surgery. He was working his way back and hoped to be ready for training camp, but a setback in his rehabilitation will not allow that to happen.
“Unfortunately Shaun incurred a setback in his recovery from knee surgery that won’t allow him to compete in a timely manner,” Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said. “Shaun has played a significant role in our success during his time in Pittsburgh.
