The Steelers released offensive tackle Mike Adams today, concluding a disappointing four years with the Steelers after being drafted in the second round of the draft in 2012.
Adams was released with a failed physical designation after he underwent back surgery last July.
When the Steelers selected LSU tackle Jerald Hawkins in the fourth round Saturday the writing was on the wall for Adams, who started 20 games for the Steelers between 2012 and 2014. The Steelers have Marcus Gilbert entrenched as the starter at right tackle and Ryan Harris and Alejandro Villanueva will battle for the starting left tackle job.
