Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell called his work with Owens Recovery Science 'CRAZY!!!' in a recent tweet. Not sure if it's crazy, but it's certainly intriguing.
The San Antonio-based Owens focuses on maintaining muscles around a rehabbing knee using a treatment called blood flow restriction (BFR). Bell tore his medial collateral ligament in Week 8 of the regular season and is likely working to strengthen the core leg muscles during what's considered a lengthy rehab process.
I spoke briefly with Owens chief of human performance optimization Johnny Owens, who can't comment on individual clients, but said the company works with more than 20 professional teams.
