Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike Tomlin says that quarterback Russell Wilson will start in the team’s Week 3 preseason game against the Lions this weekend, Brooke Pryor of ESPN reported Thursday.
It’s not a huge surprise that Wilson is playing in the contest, as he confirmed as much in a press conference on Wednesday, but his standing as the starter is a new development after questions arose following his performance in Week 2’s preseason game against the Bills. It was an uninspiring performance, totaling just 47 yards on 10 attempts, taking three sacks for 21 yards lost — absolute drive-killers.
