The Pittsburgh Steelers had no idea what they were in for at the quarterback position heading into the 2024 NFL season. The team moved on from QB Kenny Pickett in the offseason after bringing in veteran Russell Wilson. Pittsburgh subsequently traded a conditional pick for Justin Fields, and though they named Wilson the starter, things became fuzzy after he suffered a calf injury to kick off training camp.
It was aggravated just ahead of Week 1 and sidelined him through the first six weeks of the year. While Fields was solid in his relief, getting the team off to a 4-2 start, there’s no doubt that Wilson has provided a spark that even Fields couldn’t match.
