Steelers QB Russell Wilson is ‘day-to-day’ with calf issue, per Mike Tomlin

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson surprised everyone when he spent the first day of training camp in a baseball cap and did not partake in practice.

It was heavily speculated this was just a veteran day off for Wilson to begin camp. However, it’s a bit more than that.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that Wilson woke up with a calf issue, which is why he was held out of practice. Tomlin says Wilson wanted to practice, but he held him out as a precaution. He is now considered day-to-day. Justin Fields took all the first-team reps to begin camp.
