The Steelers placed wide receiver Markus Wheaton and defensive end Cam Heyward on injured reserve today. Taking their place on the 53-man roster are linebacker Bud Dupree and halfback Daryl Richardson.
Wheaton, a starter the past two years opposite Antonio Brown, has played just three games this season, starting two as he tried to fight through a near season-long shoulder injury. He had four catches for 51 yards and one touchdown.
Heyward announced previously that his season was finished after a pectoral muscle was torn in last Sunday’s game against Dallas. He and Wheaton cannot return to play this season.
