Steelers' public relations staff honored with Pete Rozelle Award

The Steelers’ public relations staff received the 2014 Pete Rozelle Award today. The award is presented by the Pro Football Writers of America and goes to the team public relations staff that consistently strives for excellence in its dealings and relationships with the media.

The Steelers previously won the award in 1991 when Joe Gordon was their director of communications. Burt Lauten now holds the position. His staff also includes Dom Rinelli and Ryan Scarpino.

The award is named after Rozelle, who was the NFL commissioner from 1960-89. Rozelle’s background before he ascended to the commissioner’s office was as a publicist.
