The Steelers have promoted practice squad quarterback Tyler Murphy to the 53-man roster, another sign that Ben Roethlisberger is likely out for Sunday's game at Kansas City.
Landry Jones is in line to make his first NFL start. Roethlisberger (knee) is listed as questionable on the injury report, while Michael Vick (hamstring) is out.
To make room for Murphy, the Steelers have placed cornerback Cortez Allen on injured reserve. Allen was battling for a starting job in the preseason but has battled a lingering knee issue.
