The Steelers promoted Devlin Hodges from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Monday. In doing so, the team has officially placed Ben Roethlisberger on the Reserved/Injured List according to the Steelers PR Department.
Hodges was brought in to the Steelers’ practice squad just after the Steelers Week 1 game. In a break from their tradition dating back to 2000, the Steelers kept their third quarterback on the practice squad rather than the 53-man roster.
Nicknamed “Duck” due to his award-winning duck calling, Hodges was 20 for 38 passing for 190 yards in the preseason while throwing two touchdowns and one interception in three games in which he appeared.
