Here’s just another reason why the Steelers will focus on improving their secondary – again – this offseason:
They were in their nickel defense that uses five defensive backs 75 percent of the time in 2015, a significant and somewhat staggering jump from the previous season when they used that package 65 percent of the time.
That means they have three cornerbacks and two safeties on the field for three out of every four defensive snaps. Not a good recipe for success when you don’t have a legitimate starting cornerback among the bunch, other than William Gay, who is really a solid slot corner is disguise.
