Throughout the past couple of seasons, one of the biggest challenges the Pittsburgh Steelers have faced has been the inability to play man-to-man coverage. This challenge has been one area why the Steelers seem to perform under expectations as of these past couple years.
Multiple setbacks have been the cause. The loss of Ryan Shazier, one of the best coverage linebackers in the league before going down with an injury, opened up passing lanes all over the middle of the field for opposing teams. The poor development of former first-round selection Artie Burns put the secondary in a tough spot.
