PITTSBURGH -- The NFL fined Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree for his controversial hit on Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore in Sunday's AFC wild-card game.
Dupree told ESPN that he's received a fine, but he isn't sure of the amount yet. He said he will likely appeal.
Dupree received a penalty for roughing the passer, which classifies as an $18,231 fine, unless the offense upgrades to impermissible use of the helmet, which is a $24,309 fine.
With 7:16 left in the second quarter, Moore took a vicious upper-body shot from Dupree as he was throwing on the run.
