Steelers Have To ‘Ramp Up’ Pressure, Alex Highsmith Says: ‘We Know The Type Of Defense We Are’

Two games without star outside linebacker T.J. Watt, two largely pitiful performances in the pass rush department for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While third-year outside linebacker Alex Highsmith has looked good overall without his running mate opposite him, the rest of the Steelers front seven hasn’t been able to generate enough consistent pressure on the quarterback since Watt exited with an injury late in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 win on the road over the Cincinnati Bengals.

That game, the Steelers sacked Joe Burrow seven times. Since then, just three total sacks — two against the Cleveland Browns and Jacoby Brissett Thursday night — generating a total of just eight pressures in two full games since.
