The Steelers passed on a running back in the second round to take a wide receiver. But with their first of two fourth-round picks, they got a speed back that was one of the best big-play running backs in the draft, Maryland's Anthony McFarland with the 124th pick.
McFarland, 5-foot-8, 208 pounds, is a little undersized, but ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
A redshirt sophomore, McFarland was a two-year contributor at Maryland, rushing for over 1,000 yards in his first season before gaining 614 yards on just 114 attempts in 2019 as he shared time with Javon Leake.
