They devote their lives to serving their Lord, wearing long black robes that nearly touch the ground. They greet guests with smiles, casually mentioning their religious teachings in conversation. They live in a monastery where much of the facade is shrouded by trees, giving the building that only they can enter an air of secrecy.
But on Sunday afternoons in the fall, many of the Benedictan monks of the Saint Vincent Archabbey gather in a lounge on the first floor of their monastery to watch the Steelers.
When the Steelers report to training camp this weekend, it will be the 50th consecutive summer they have done so at Saint Vincent College, the school connected to the monastery.
