The Steelers used their first draft pick on Saturday to again bolster their safety position by picking Penn State’s Marcus Allen in the fifth round.
He becomes the third new safety they’ve added this year. They drafted Terrell Edmunds of Virginia Tech in the first round and signed veteran Morgan Burnett as an unrestricted free agent.
Allen is 6-2, 215, more of a strong safety but can play different positions. Born in Pittsburgh, his father is Shawn Allen who graduated from Westinghouse High School and played at the University of Maryland.
“Man, I’m coming home, I’m coming home,’’ said Allen, who grew up in Maryland.
