Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward will no longer wear eye black honoring his late father after a hearing with the NFL today.
Heyward, who was fined for violating the league’s uniform policy, released a statement Tuesday night on his Twitter account.
“Writing ‘Iron Head’ on my eye black has always been a personal tribute to my father. Though I appreciate all the incredible support, the attention this has received is something I never sought out or intended to happen.
“I consider myself a team player and someone who puts others before myself, and I don’t want to be a distraction to my teammates or the Steelers organization.
