Steelers decline to exercise 2017 option on Jarvis Jones

The Steelers will have both of their right outside linebackers back for 2016, but they may not have either after that.

The Steelers declined to exercise the fifth-year option for 2017 on linebacker Jarvis Jones’ contract Monday, which means he could become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

James Harrison, though, made the expected announcement that he will return to play at age 38 in 2016 after working out much of the offseason in Arizona. While Jones starts at right outside linebacker, Harrison has outperformed him over the past two seasons.

“I’m back,’’ Harrison declared on Instagram.
