If you haven’t heard by now, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams lost his mother to breast cancer in May of 2014. His mother wasn’t the only family member to be diagnosed with the disease as Williams has four aunts that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. In an effort to honor those women, Williams asked the NFL to allow him to wear pink all season long to raise breast cancer awareness for women around the world, but the NFL denied his request.
Williams was asked by ESPN’s Lisa Salters how he felt after NFL vice president of football operations Troy Vincent told him no over the phone.
