In 2018, the tight end position was far from a weakness for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Vance McDonald flourished a pass-catching option, while Jesse James was a reliable inline blocker who rarely got injured. Even Xavier Grimble proved to be a solid competitor as the team’s third option at tight end.
Fast forward a year, and the Steelers are in a very different situation. While McDonald remains with the team, he is coming off perhaps the worst year of his 7-year career. McDonald rated out as just the 71st tight end out of 72 eligible players with an overall season grade of just 45.
