In a bit of a surprising move, earlier this week Alan Saunders of Steelers Now reported that Pittsburgh will not be extending the contract of right guard James Daniels.
The Steelers inked Daniels to a three-year, $64-million-dollar contract in 2022, and he quickly became one of their stalwarts up front. So why not extend a player who’s been so reliable?
Age certainly isn’t a factor. Daniels will turn just 27 in September. Neither is durability. The big man started 32 of 34 regular season games over the past few seasons in the black and gold.
