Steelers chairman Dan Rooney will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jackie Robinson Foundation at its annual awards dinner in New York City on Monday.
The award will be given to Rooney for the difference he has made in the NFL and sports and as the U.S. ambassador to Ireland from 2009-2012, according to the Steelers.
Thomas Tull, the CEO of Legendary Pictures and a partner in the Steelers ownership group, will present the award to Rooney.
“Jackie Robinson was really a leader,’’ Rooney told Steelers.com. “All of the abuse he had to take when he first came into the league.
