Steelers' apparent winning touchdown against Patriots negated by controversial review

The Steelers had the New England Patriots beaten. Until they didn’t.

Tight end Jesse James’ go-ahead touchdown in the final minute was negated after officials reviewed the play and determined that James did not control the ball all the way to the ground.

James has clear possession of the ball when he turns to cross the plane of the end zone. It’s only after he lands that the ball pops loose, appearing to touch the ground.

Whether that constitutes a catch will be debated for the rest of the week, and perhaps for a long time to come.
