The Steelers announced on Friday afternoon that they have come to terms on a one-year deal with linebacker Steven Johnson. Johnson spent the 2015 season with the Tennessee Titans.
Johnson was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas by the Denver Broncos. He spent three seasons with the Broncos before joining the Titans last season. He played all 16 games for Tennessee last season and recorded seven tackles.
The move was necessary for depth after linebackers Terrence Garvin and Sean Spence signed elsewhere in free agency. Johnson joins Vince Williams, Lawrence Timmons and Ryan Shazier under Jerry Olsavsky’s tutelage.
