The Steelers on Friday activated wide receiver James Washington from the reserve/COVID list. To make room on their roster for the third-year receiver, the Steelers released linebacker John Houston.
Washington, who was placed on the reserve/COVID list, was the team's leader in receiving yards in 2019. He caught 44 passes for 735 yards with three touchdowns last season.
A second-round draft pick in 2018, Washington is being counted on as one of the Steelers' top three receivers this season with Ben Roethlisberger returning from injury.
His return leaves running back Jaylen Samuels and cornerback Justin Layne still on the reserve/COVID list.
