Steelers A ‘More Potent’ Team Than Mike Tomlin Has Had In Many Years, Analyst Believes

In a 44-38 win over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Paycor Stadium, the Pittsburgh Steelers under head coach Mike Tomlin checked another key box on the year: winning a shootout.

Throughout the season, questions have been presented about the Steelers regarding their ability to blowout bad teams, win close games, low-scoring games, and winning a shootout. All those boxes are checked now for the Black and Gold, which has many analysts starting to really come around on the Steelers as a legitimate contender.

That includes The Athletic’s Robert Mays.

In the Sunday reaction show to Week 13 action in the NFL, Mays credited the Steelers for putting up 44 points against the Bengals and winning a thrilling shootout, answering a key question about the offense under coordinator Arthur Smith and quarterback Russell Wilson.
