PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles and left tackle Jordan Mailata reached an agreement on a three-year, $66 million extension Thursday that includes $48 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal ties Mailata to Philadelphia through the 2028 season. The $22 million per-year average puts him behind only Laremy Tunsil, Trent Williams and Andrew Thomas among the NFL's highest-paid offensive tackles.
Mailata, 27, is a former Australian rugby player who knew almost nothing about football when he came to the United States in January 2018 to train at IMG Academy in Florida.
