The Steelers did something they hadn’t done in 29 years when they chose Maryland defensive back Sean Davis in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night. They selected defensive backs with their first two picks for the first time since choosing Rod Woodson and Delton Hall in the first two rounds of the 1987 draft.
The Steelers picked Miami cornerback Artie Burns with No. 25 overall pick in the first round Thursday night. Going back to the 2015 draft the Steelers have taken three defensive backs with their top four picks. Senquez Golson, who missed his rookie season with a shoulder injury, was 2015’s second-round pick.
