Settlement reached in Maurkice Pouncey civil suit alleging homophobic slurs, assault

The attorneys for Riquan James, the man who filed a civil lawsuit against Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey stemming from a July 2014 incident, announced this morning they have come to an out-of-court settlement.

Attorneys Marwan Porter and Richard Wolfe said in a statement the case had been amicably resolved. Financial terms of the settlement are not immediately known.

Pouncey and his twin brother, Mike, were involved in an altercation in July 2014 at the Cameo Nightclub in Miami, but law enforcement officials did not file criminal charges. James was seeking $500,000 in damages. The trial date had been set for Monday.
