Good Thursday to You Steelers’ Fans!
The National Football League fined Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin $25,000 yesterday for criticizing the officials following Sunday’s win over Atlanta. I get why the NFL does this; it’s about institutional control. You can’t have coaches constantly undermining officials who already have a thankless job. But my question here is this, did Mike Tomlin say anything that was wrong? No he didn’t. In fact, he brought up an excellent point. There are players and coaches who will lose jobs because of some of these officiating blunders and he’s absolutely right. And quite frankly I don’t blame the officials as much as I blame the people in New York who are forcing them to call some of this crap.
