Russell Wilson Says Pre-Game Evaluation Will Help Determine If He Starts

The Pittsburgh Steelers were thrown yet another curveball with their starting quarterback for the regular season opener on Sunday. Russell Wilson was named the starter last week over Justin Fields, but some calf tightness experienced during Thursday’s practice has left his status up in the air.

The Steelers final injury report today listed him as questionable. The NFL rules define that as a 50-50 tossup on a player’s availability for the game.

That uncertainty will likely follow the team until 90 minutes before kickoff when the game day inactive list is required to be submitted by both teams.
