Terrell Owens made dubious history this month when he announced he won’t attend the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony Aug. 4, when he will be among eight legends of the game to be honored. It is believed this is a first for any athlete in any of the major Halls of Fame.
I’m sure Owens is proud of himself. He’s too narcissistic or maybe too dumb to realize the only person he’s hurting is himself. It just doesn’t seem like it’s enough to say, “That’s just T.O. being T.O,” or, “It’s a wide-receiver diva thing.” That would be letting one of sports’ biggest jerks off too easily.
