One of the surest ways of hyping up a team is to claim that nobody is talking about them. Of course, the more the number of people claiming nobody is talking about a team rises, the less useful that commentary becomes. And people talking about everyone sleeping on the Pittsburgh Steelers is becoming a bit of a cottage industry.
We talked on Friday about comments from Kyle Brandt, who picked the Steelers as the team who isn’t getting enough hype this year. The day before that, it was Rich Eisen, including Pittsburgh on his list of the top five teams that teams are sleeping on—in part because of who else is in their division:
We are too focused on everybody else in the AFC North, and meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting down at the bottom of this list at number five.
