The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field next Thursday night, the symphony announced.
Vocalist/pianist Tony DeSare, who will be featured in the PSO's pops concerts the following weekend, will join the orchestra for the national anthem prior to kickoff. Then, during halftime, the PSO will play "Whitewater," composed by guest conductor Jeff Tyzik, to accompany a highlights film about the career of Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis.
Sponsored by UPMC Health Plan, the appearance marks the first time the PSO will perform at a professional sporting event.
