The Pittsburgh Steelers take a first-round cornerback for the first time since Chad Scott in 1997, and it comes at a critical time for the potential Super Bowl contenders. But as the fifth corner off the board, was Miami's Artie Burns the ideal choice? General manager Kevin Colbert says yes, calling the pick a “real easy” decision for what he considers the draft’s best bump-and-run cornerback.
“We were very excited this young man was available,” Colbert said. “There’s tons of upside with him.” Burns will either be a draft reach or make the Steelers look awfully smart.
My take: New Cincinnati Bengal William Jackson III would have been perfect.
